Guys I thought I knew this but now a friend has me doubting myself. What is the difference and how can you tell?

One way, SBP = 7/16" studs, LBP = 1/2" studs.

Small is 4 inches big is 4 1/2 inches measured between lugs , skipping 1 lug , like measuring 1-3 lug instead of measuring 1-2
Like this. Hook your tape over a lug, skip a lug and measure to the center of the third. It will be either 4" or 4.5" very simple.

As explained to me today measure from the center of number one bolt to the outside of number three bolt

Thanks guys. I measured and it looks like I have large bolt pattern. I asked because I am thinking of ordering some steel wheels from Wheel Specialties next week and needed to know my pattern.
