So I think I possibly found a car.

Good luck! Hope you get it but i know i wouldnt come off my price $1000 on a $1500 car.

Yea, but it sounds like he wants it gone and its been sitting for 16 years. I don't know if the breaks need work, if the steering is shot. There will be a lot of work that needs done to that car before it is street ready. Plus the guy posted the add two months ago and still has the car so hopefully I can get it.

When you go just take as much cash you would be willing to give for it just incase. Im sure it will all need a going over.

Unless there's some unforeseen floor/rail issues, that thing looks really solid. I agree on starting low, but don't walk away too quick. $500 is near scrap value, and it could very well be a steal for more bucks then that.....

Thats what i was thinking hopefully a $500 offer dont make him feel offended and decide to scrap it. I usually ask them their bottom dollar if i buy it now then offer from there.

Yea I don't want to offend him or anything, but there is a guy with a 1974 Scamp that is running and road ready with a 360 and he wants $1500. It just needs a paint job. I'll bring $800 bucks with me, but I'll start at $500 and hope he bites. I hope I can get as lucky as I did with the engine. I'm picking up a fully assembled 383 for $200 bucks on Thursday haha.

I learned long time ago to spend some time getting to know the seller and let him see you as a true lover of these cars, not just a guy out to make a fast buck and screw the seller.
here in Missouri, if a guy asked $50 for a $5000 car, people would still offer $30. go figure......
back in south Ga where I was raised , pull that and most likey you be hurrying off the farm dodging buckshot!!@?? really
take $800 all in one's. ( might look like a lot of $$) LOL
like he said $500 isn't that far off scrap price!!
i'f think you should be able to get it for under a grand. ( everything is cheaper west of the Mississippi and higher north of Missouri!!!!????

It looks fairly rust free in the photo.
2 door Valiants seem to be getting more popular.
You are absolutely right about the work it may need.
Good luck getting it!

1967 Valiant. No engine or tranny, but I have a 383 BB that I will be picking up this week. The guy is asking $1500, but he said it's been sitting in storage since 1998 and he want's it gone so I think I'll show up with $500 cash and a flatbed. Thoughts?

$500 offer on a $1500 car.... You trying to buy it or rent it? Personally, I would run you off if you suddenly showed up and made me an offer like that. You wouldn't be able to buy the car at any price.

That's a $1000 car, but I wouldn't say any more than that. $500 would be a great deal for you, $800 would be fair for the both of you. Just be prepared for him to tell you to kick rocks at any offer below what he has asked. Some people think anything mopar is worth gold prices, some cars yes, this car no...
