source for wire

I am looking for a source of new automotive grade underhood (SXL)electrical wire. I have found places that sell it, but they are all high volume dealers. I really don't need 250' of a single color or thickness. I am looking for someone that sells in approximately 50' pieces. I don't really want to take it out of junkyard cars, but that would give me a selection of colors.

Wire has become stupid expensive with increased copper pricing.

Look in the yellow pages and find elevator contractors. See if they will sell you the ends of their "Traveler" cable. It is fire rated and comes in many sizes and colors, on top of that every strand is individually numbered.
