What do most run to look real nice under the hood. It will have a sock dist and cap. 7 or 8 mm. Occasionally a 6000 or so blast. Mopar electronic ignition. Or should a guy get a ready to run dist? It has TTI headers. MP black valve covers. Will be painted blue. LD 340 is also blue. Kim

Hi Kim....I run an HEI accel ecore coil I painted orange. It’s a stand alone with firecore distributor original type mopar cap and Taylor 8mm straight fit wires made to length. I wanted them to run behind my valve covers so they wouldn’t hide my valve covers. I know it’s Chebyish but it looks pretty clean.
You can see the coil and module with heat sink on the passenger side inner fender. Stays cool up there too.

I buy 8mm Taylor wire by the spool & make up my own. It looks a lot more orderly & sanitary in my opinion.

Napa Suppression on both the 340 and 318. Silicon boots, 7mm and running a true 4 pin HEI on 318 and 340 with no issues for years. Fit good too!

I bought Summit 8mm for LA motor. Don't buy 'em, they suck. Straight boots off the dizzy look messy and the plug boots are really tall and touch each other plus lay against the exh manifold on driver's side. Already had one fall apart.

I have always ran the lowest resistance wires I could find , which has always been M S D wires .

I like the look of the black MSD wires with white lettering. I run 8mm. 90 degree boots at distributor and a mix of angles at the spark plugs, depending on header and fender clearance, etc. Cutting/routing the wires was one of my favorite tasks on my build!

For stock style ignition (points or electronic) I like Pertronix flame thrower 7mm wires because they look plain Jane. For something more high performance I like the Taylor 8.2mm.

Be a good Engine Masters episode, if it's not already. Be even better if they retested them after 50,000 or so miles. Admittedly hard to do the latter.

Match the wires to the ignition used! “Very Important”! Often overlooked purchase.

Taylor makes “plenty“ of custom fit versions for most applications. Take the time to search their online catalog. Otherwise buy the spool, ends and boots.

The solid core Wires I purchased In 1986 are still supple and the resistance Is spot on. That was with Chrysler Gold Box and Electronic dizzy.

They do not work for The Pertronix III I use today, replaced with Taylor Street Thunder 8MM resistor set in black for a stock 383. Very impressed!

I also use Magnecore sparkplug wires.
Custom made to fit your vehicle And for those with non stock coil locations, they will adjust the length to fit your set up.
