Can someone help me with this question,
I want to spray 2 coats of epoxy on my new bare 340, how long do i have to wait before i paint the 340?
Im painting with PPG Omni 2K urethane...

It’s a chemical bond usually a final sealer coat is “relatively” fresh before base coat. So its a short window. I forgot the window so you can check on their site if nobody specifically answers. I can’t recall the exact time but it’s a very short window.

Ok looked it up its 7 days max unreduced and 30 mins reduced as a final sealer. Personally I wouldn’t wait more than a day because tour counting on a good chemical bond. Just just me.

ive read the info they sent with the epoxy and i dont see when i can topcoat for that wet on wet chemical bond that im looking for.
i want to epoxy in the morning and paint later in the afternoon

so can i top coat 5-6 hours later?
I really think you should read the data sheet. With something this important it’s good to educate yourself rather than looking for a quick answer. It depends on how many coats prior you used the temperature etc. I don’t have all the information and I am not an expert.

thanks, ive read the sheet maybe im missing something, i cant find it.
i looked up the transtar epoxy that i usually use and the data sheet is clear and concise on recoat times

FWIW Most paint suppliers put the re-coat window at 12-24 hours, SPI on most of their products say up to a week... I would suggest staying to the short side of that window.... In the 80's & 90's auto manufacturers learned that lesson, primer or base coat cured to completely means the next layer doesn't bond & you get this... Honestly the fact it's only a few panels might be a body shop issue but the failed bond is probably still due to re-coat time...
