Stalling when warm issue

-
I just went through the whole car stalls bit.Same deal runs fine at speed but dies at stops.Did alot of trouble shooting.Put my timing light on the coil wire to distributor and noticed my light would not work constantly.Put another coil on and that solved all my problems.I did notice the Accel super coil that was on it would get so hot you could barely touch it and I guess when runnung at speed there was enough air flow around it to keep it cool enough to keep it from breaking down. Not saying this is your problem but it might be worth checking .

Coil, that would be nice. Yes, when it is hot and dies, if I hit the throttle it pumps gas in the carb. Usually if I let it sit for a few minutes or so it will start back up....Would the coil cause the no fuel pressure?

Thanks to this, I'm now buying a spacer for my 1406 once I get my 360 back together.

Try that spacer, you got nothing to lose at this point haha. Also you may be getting vapor lock in the line going from the pump to the filter/carb, check to see it's not routed too close to the engine. Actually if you can try to post a picture of your engine and we might be able to find more things to check...

i had the same problem i checked a bunch of things heres what helped me out and i havnt had this problem since then

accel super stock coil(oem died)
radiator(old one was rotted and wasnt flowing)
water pump
and new 180 thermastat someone had chaged to have no thermostat i think this was my big part this and the coil

I can't comment to much on the no fuel pressure, but if there is still gas in the carb when it dies then fuel is not the problem. If there was no fuel pressure the carb would not fill and the car would run until the fuel bowls were empty. It also would not start again until the bowls got some fuel back into them. Try another cheap coil before you spend any money on a good one.

Sounds good, I think I have had to change the coil all ready a couple of years ago. I will look into this. Thanks

Okay guys, thanks for all the help. It seems a spacer under the carb, made all the difference, damn Edelbrocks!
