ok! so last week i started building my cal tracs, i finshed the bell crank and i have the material too finish the whole thing. so really in a way i just began building them.

My mechanics teacher who really is into drag racing is whilling to sell me his SS springs for 150 Canadian for the pair.....hes only drove the car on the track and only did about 15-20 runs. he does 13 secs in the 1/4 mile so they shouldnt be beaten up.

what do you think? grab the springs or build the cal-tracs. i remind you i will need to rearc my stock springs if i go cal-tracs, 60 Canadian each is the quote on them.

and if I buy the springs i need to use them, he doesnt want me to sell them or anything

anyone? im in a pickle here.

i want the car too drive alright on street, and handle somewhat to.

yet i want to drive it to the track and hook up like it should.

Tough decision there littleman66. What car are the springs currently being run on?

79 Aspen i belive, same springs except he needed to mount new hangers in. A bodies dont

You'll slill have to shell out bucks for a pinion snubber. If you're looking at cost only, the Cal's would be cheaper. Just be sure you use the best heim joints. Cheaper ones will fail.

I new here so if I'm too late sorry. If your teacher has ss spring made in Canada ( which stopped in late 80's early 90's) they're good.If it is the current junk sold made in Mexico then that's why he is selling them.My .02 arch your springs and use the Cal-Trac.Also if you need a pinion snubber then you are getting to much spring wrap, the adjustablity of the Cal-Trac will cure that.
