Steering couplers

I know that the steering coupler is really the same PS 62-78 and also on MS 62-78. My question is, is the difference in the coupler between the PS coupler and the MS coupler the size because of the difference in the length in the steering column? I was wondering if that was the difference and or if there are other differences? Thanks.

The input shaft on a manual steering box is larger in diameter than the input shaft on a power steering box.
