SUPERCHARGER= OIL LEAK

Got all the plumbing done for my paxton supercharger. Started it up & tuned the carb alittle & after about 5min or so i noticed a major oil leak from the pan. I had the pan down to weld the return line bung on. I figured it had to be the gasket leaking. I got to thinking that i had it running several time after i put the pan back up & with the blo-through carb with no oil leak. Now that i have the SC hooked up to the carb & all that extra air could that have caused the oil leak ?
 
So the leak happened at idle or did it show up after a drive? Your correct that now your boosting the cylinders and there for a small amount gets into the crank case when in boost but there should be no boost at idle. What how is your PCV set up? Could the leak be from the return line to the pan?

At idle & reving it up alittle I was tuning the carb. I found the leak from a loose lt rear pan bolt. I started it several times before the sc install. I took the PVC valve out. I was toldi didnt need it. I contacted a friend who is a engineer & knows all about superchargers. He told me i need to install a catch can with lines coming from the valve covers.

You still need a PVC valve. Try to source one from a Supercharged or turbo V8 car (i.e. 2003 Cobra, etc). Every Turbo'd vehicle I've owned had a pcv valve. Catch can is good to prevent ingesting oil.
 
I was told bt several people that the PCV line is now a pressure line not a vacuum line and thats why i dont need one. Some say i do some say i dont.
 
Classic has one thats adjustable one for boosted application, I put a vacuum pump on my set up due to aftermarket block and just venting the valve covers was not cutting it.

I got the oil leak fixed. So far no leaks. Ive been looking into a catch can set up.
 
I plumbed in a water trap that is commonly used on air compressor systems to remove water from the air. It traps a lot of water and oil mist during non-summer use. It's easy to drain and tucks out of the way. PCV to water trap to intake is the hose routing.
