Hello everybody this is Duster smalls,I'm original from Northern Michigan l grew up in the 60s and 70s my first mopar was a sprit of 76 throught the years l have had a 1970 / 72 .l recently purchased a 1974 plymouth gold duster it seems to be all original l have an Arizona title from 1975 the car was purchased new in Connecticut then relocated to Az it has a slant 6 with a manual 3 speed currently not running the car has sat for quite awhile (lots of dry rot) There is slight damage to the driver side rear panel.My goal is to restore it back to its original glory. This will be my first restoration. The cars l had back in the day just required a tune up and changing the oil. I live over in Suprise and welcome any advise or recommendations you guys may have. Thanks for your time and l look forward to being a member of this group.

Our member "Cruiser" has the same '74 Gold duster than yours, but totally restored.
No doubt, he will probably be a good help for you :thumbsup:

Hi, I live in Indiana and I have a 1973 Gold duster I just had it painted. Is a california car.
If you need parts I have 2 Doors solid, body triming. Welcome this is a good forum.

Yours has the same manufacture date as mine!

Here is how l got that name: I'm 5ft 4" my girlfriend is 5 ft 11" she is also a 1974 model. l come up to her headlights. like my car her thermostat is messed up as well. but at least she runs. And she is always telling me l'm killing her. So there you go.
 
Welcome from Kansas. I have never seen a Gold Duster in real life. I guess they are rather rare. Please restore it so I can see it.

Yes the paint is original, there is still remains of the snake skin top. So far everything looks original, l removed some of the carpet and it looks they used some kind of fire proofing or sound proofing material under the carpet. I hope it does not contain any asbestos.

Hi Welcome aboard. I like it! very complete original car. Getting hard to find. If it were mine I would get the motor/ trans in running condition, get the brakes safe, and drive the crap out of it for a while. That's basically what I did with my 73 S/S Scamp, been driving it for 20 years now with upgrades and repairs along the way. Have fun. Driving is mor fun that restoring.
 
Thanks, that is the direction l'm heading ln. it makes sense l removed the valve cover and found a bent push rod. next weekend l plan on remove the head and see if l can manually turn the motor over.

Have fun with it . Someone once said " It is only original Once" The S/S in somewhat indestrucable if the oil is changed occasionally. I had a 225 Swinger with the same problem. Once tore into I found "0" oil to the valves. The oil pump screen was completely blocked by sludge and the idiot light didn't work. I fixed it and drove it for a while- traded for something and that guy drove it for along time. Just something to check. Thanks
