Near where I live they have a sand sculpture contest once a year. You have to start whatever you are building first thing in the morning and have it done by 3 in the afternoon. (the tide comes in and washes everything away shortly after that). My wife and I have been doing this for 6 years now. This year there were 129 entries, 38 in our catagory which was group. That is the toughest catagory.
Our sculpture was titled "Treasure Island". It had a pirate, boy, treasure chest, palm trees and a shipwreck. We started shoveling sand at 8:30 am and I put the finishing touches on the last part at 2:55 pm. We moved about 3 tandum truckloads of sand.
Somehow we managed to win the best in our catagory. A friend of ours who is a professional artist won the best overall. Last year we won the best overall.
Just one of the things that we gearheads do besides cars.
What do some of you others do?
Jack
