Throttle cable into firewall

Any suggestions would help. New Lokar throttle cable installed. Car ran great for a couple days, then carb wouldnt idle down. Found the fitting at the firewall very loose. What is the proper way to mount the fitting to the fire wall ? The firewall opening seems sloppy. I tightened it and the carb still wont idle down because the throttle wont return completely.

Doesn't yours bolt through the pedal assy? Mine does on my 68 Cuda. The hole was sloppy so I used fender washers on both sides.

Fishy hit the nail on the head. Fender washers..... alos make sure to shoot a bunch of spray silicone from the top down inside the housing so the cable slides free.
