Has anyone successfully used a shim/washer to preload the 2-3 shift valve spring enough to raise the shift point up?
The 42rh has an aluminum governor which is more of a ***** to remove (or even find online) than the old 3 speeds, so I am leaning towards shimming the 2-3 valve.
(A&A sells springs for the 1-2 shift, I have those already)
Alternatively, does anyone know of a source for a suitable 2-3 shift spring that is adequately stiffer than the stock one?
The 42rh is out of a '94 v6 dakota.
It is installed in the car and works great.
2.76 rear gear (not for too long), tires are 26.5" tall.
I am looking for a higher upshift by about 400 rpm, and also increased downshift sensitivity and cutoff rpm threshold.
Thanks all,
