i am putting together a 65 barracuda that now has a 727 in it, the original mount is to tall and the one for the 69 barracuda 4spd mount works perfect there is a height difference between the 2 mounts i have been looking for about a week trying to find the shorter 4spd mount. Anybody have any idea where i can get one or 2 of them. last resort is i have to Mod transmission crossmember.

IF and a big IF you need to modify the cross member this is a photo of how I did my 64 Dart.
I was installing a 67 904 and had to rework a bit using a newer A body mount.
Cut out the base and install mount check the clearance and pinion angle. Then using a U shape bent piece of strap steel welding it into place. Not to pretty but it worked.

That is in fact because your '69 mount is sagged out/dead.

There is one kind of trans mount for all '62-'72 A-bodies — okeh, two, if you count that starting in '66 there was only one bottom stud instead of two. That doesn't make any difference; the 1-stud mount goes fine in '62-'65 cars. Dimensionally, they are all alike.

The 727 was not factory-installed in any pre-'67 A-bodies, so there's no stock crossmember/mount setup that properly accommodates it. You'll have to adapt.

i have never found it worthwhile buying the expensive 2 stud when the half the price or even less 1 stud version does the same job equally well 2 stud version in australia is $60-$70. it may well be a quality piece but i'm not going to investigate when rockauto can come up with the goods

you might find you have more leeway with the post 73 cross member and spool type mount
the cross member doesn't fit properly because it doesn't have that indented section on one side to stop you putting it in backwards but nothing a chock of washers can't fix...
well at least on mine anyway...the mid 60s cars i think you'd have to risk it to find out

basically..... it might be an option..... if you had one to try

or it might not fit at all
My car is australian and uses a 60s auto floor pan tunnel cross member with indent and 2 stud mount, but i don't know what 1960s year they chose to replicate for their whole production run from 1971- 1982
a spool mount will fit mine with its spool mount cross member and a a good few washers to fill the gap

I bought a new in the box 1 stud mount for my 65 Barracuda at NAPA a while back.......for the whopping price of $6.00! AND, they had it on the shelf in a dusty box.

i should add a note to compliment Dans comment
the aussie cars did on occasions, due to production line strike activity at Borg Warners auto trans factory in Australia, use US transmissions.

i.e they made 1970s cars using a 1960s floor and tunnel and used 904 and 727 transmissions, 727 infrequently but they used them on a chassis that was potentially very close in design to yours.

Those Transmissions were 904 standard for a 318, and small block 727 on 245 318 360
the floor pan and tunnel and dimensions from bulkhead to cross member didn't change during this period and i am not aware of any different steel cross member and mount being used.
everything got an A body "indented on 1 side" metal part and 2 stud square biscuit mount like the one in your photo

manual 3 speed auto 904 (a pair)

manual 4 speed and auto 727 (a pair)

paired for tail housing seal and bush, and prop shaft yoke, 2 types of each part for 4 transmissions.

But the mount at the rear never changed and the Mid 60s floor and tunnel only changed to fit the bigger bellhousing of the 727 and 4 speed in i.e they cut it and hit it with a hammer, patched it with a cross of steel and welded it up on each car in a section just before the bulkhead to achieve what they felt was enough clearance for the bell housing

in essence i don't think it being a small block 727 would cause an issue anywhere but right up front, near the motor, and probably then just the seam between the tunnel and the bulkhead which can be adjusted with a mallet, i.e the clearance is there more or less

the only cars i can discount in this mix are the 61 62 australian valiants (same as US 60/61) and possibly the Ap5 Ap6 63,64,65 models. I think they were all a little more constrained in the tunnel area

so i put the 65 mount back in, first time since 1985 but anyway once its in place the trans crossmember bolt holes will not line up, i took the bump stop off out of the tunnel as well. since the mount will not go up due to the 727 tail shaft diameter i will have to mod mount which is a good thing because i will have to lower trans to get the angle correct for drive shaft. with tail shaft up so high i am now about 5.5 degrees out of correct driveshaft angle. more to come.... thanks everyone.
