Just need a little help. Im replacing the trunk floor and extensions on my 75 scamp. Just wondering if its safe to remove the trunk pan and extensions at the same time without worrying about things warping. I have already installed usct frame connectors, torque boxes and relocated the springs. It's on a level concrete floor. I also have a quickjack so I can remove springs and axle to remove the weight hanging off the back. Any advice would be really appreciated.

It may or may not be easier on you if you remove the axle & springs, but if it won't take you long it could be worth the effort when you have to get underneath to trace the frame rail lines on the bottom of the new pan. You will need to do that in order to know where to drill holes in the pan, to weld thru. As long as the quarter panels and rear crossmember that the back bumper bolts to are still in place, it shouldn't move much, if any. If it were me, I would support the frame rails before you remove the old metal as an extra precaution. Getting the new pan to fit against the taillight panel will be the hardest part, plus the trunk lock support. All of that sat on top of the trunk floor that was welded in first.

Thank you for responding. I figured I should be ok. Good idea having more room to work. Axle and springs come out easily. I'll use my quickjack and put some axle stands under the frame at the back.

If you remove axle and leaf springs there won't be any weight left on the rear of car to cause anything to move.
