Not sure where to post this.........Had a senior moment I guess.......I removed and anodized the trunk lock mechanism that bolts up inside the trunk................

As I was putting it back in, and adjusting it to close properly, I found the right spot and it latched........problem is, the lock rod is not in it's slot.

SO, I can't get back in the trunk.

I'd go in from the back seat and turn the lock, BUT there is a 3/4 plywood wall there that can't be removed from the back seat.........I need to remove the lock from outside.

QUESTION: Can the lock be drilled out for access, OR should I call a locksmith?

Recommendations?

Name of a good brain Doctor?

So the rod between the latch and the lock cylinder is not in place.... A lock smith probably won't be able to do much since you've got the key but turning the key in the cylinder doesn't open the latch. Drilling out the cylinder and then using a screw driver to open the latch is one (destructive) way of getting access.

That's what we deduce..........Autozone has a lockset complete with the rod and trim (probably get what I pay for too)........

BUT, will I be able to drill this thing out myself, or should I call a smith?

Never done one before..................................
