Hello All -

I'm new to the forum and also new to rejuvenating my new baby, a '73 Duster. I would like to put some cool-looking wheels on her but cannot figure out which measurements to use, even after much searching on this forum and the web in general. 15" rims is the goal.

So I'm looking for some good wheels for a daily driver that looks cool but doesn't stick out or rub anything.

15x7 or 15x8? What kind of backspacing should I look for (the car is pretty much bone stock and I don't have the know-how to move big pieces of the car around wheels/tires that are too big).

Some of the wheels I've looked at include 15x7 all around, 215/65R15 in front, 235/65R15 in back. Will these fit in nicely? What kind of backspacing do I need?

How about with 15x8 or 15x8.5?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

I would go with a 15x7 factory steel wheel. Or even a 15x7 cop car wheel.
Stick with a 60 series tire. I ran 235/60-15 on all 4 corners (74 Dart).
If you must stagger go 225 up front with a 235 in the back.
Put on a set of Plymouth Division dog dishes, or no caps at all. :snakeman:

Im assuming you have the big bolt pattern on your car ?

And, welcome to the site.

not all 15x8 rims are created the same. i got a set of 4 torq thrust ii wheels/ tires off a guy here for $600

was a great deal

however on the back, 1/2" offset shackle kit installed, the 275/60r15's (the BFG's in that size have an 11" section width) were about .25 inch from the springs... couldnt even fit a finger between. had to downsize to MT 26X10

in other words the offset on the 8" torq thrust wheels was wrong they sell 2 different offsets in the 4.5x5 bolt circle size

So...
Will 15x7 rims with a 4.25" backspace work on my car, with 215/60R15 tires on the front and 235/60R15 on the back?

Yes, I believe it has the large bolt pattern.

100% yes on the 215s, about 95% sure on the 235s. Because every car is slightly different.

The 215 & 235 will fit fine.

Can't remember the backspace on the Chrysler 15x7 steel wheel.
Do a search for backspace of a Mopar 15x7 steel wheel. Or police wheel.
They are a direct bolt on.

Trevor,

I ran a 14x7 rim w 215 in front and a 15x8 rim w 235 in back gave the car a wicked stance without being radical. I did install relocating spring mounts, pretty easy if you have access to a welder.

Thanks All -
All the wheels I find on Craigslist keep getting bought before I get there.
I'm just going to hope to find someone selling some slot mags in 15x7 for a reasonable price!

I have the offset spring kit on my '71 Duster with 15X7 cop wheels and 27560R15 BFG's. Have at least 1.25" clearance between the springs and tire. This tire will fit without the spring kit.
