I have many vintage Illinois License plates. Yes, in Illinois you are allowed to use vintage plates that are the same year as your car if you have legal vintage plates. Inquire with your required year. These are decent used vintage plates and show bumps and bruises but will clean up nice with coat of wax. Plates for $30 a set plus $10 insured priority mail. I'm in Illinois and do this on my 78 fury, just keep my "a/v" plates in the back seat am I supposed to go tell the DMV that I'm running same year plates as my car? I found the ones I have on my car "by chance" when I helped clean out my deceased neighbor 's garage. No, I didn't buy my car from him...

Keep the av, ea plates, registration, and insurance card tucked away under the seat.
