Viton Rear Oil Seal

Im installing a Viton rear oil seal in a BB. Do I need to rotate the seal 1/4" or just install it flat? Is it recommended to add RTV anywhere beside the bottom and sides of the caps?

The tricky part is doing the side seals correctly.
