What Gear ?

I just replaced my speedometer cable with a new one. It didn't have any gears on the end of it, but now my speedometer shows about 15 to 20 miles faster than it is. What tooth of a gear do I need ?

The cable doesn't have a gear on it. The housing it screws into on the trans. has the gear located inside. What gear ratio are you running? What is the rear tire size? We need that information to tell.
