Valve below the Carburetor that has a vaccum hose connection on it.

What is it for? (EGR?)
What if it has no hose on it?
Where does the hose connect on each end?
Do I need to worry at all because it has no hose now?

1973 Dart 225 CID Auto trans, Power steering only.

That should be the EGR valve, but with no pictures, hell if I know for sure. It should be connected to a ported vacuum source, not manifold vacuum. slandsixdan will slide in here and tell you exactly where it should hook up.......course we're assumin it's the EGR valve and you know what they say about assumptions.

Can I put a plate on it like I did my 360 engine?

  1. Yep.
  2. EGR won't work
  3. Connection depends on year of car. 75 & > to CCEGR valve on radiator. 74 & < to an untimed or amplified vacuum source.
  4. Depends on whether the car has to pass an emissions test.
  5. Fix it or do nothing
  6. See # 3
  7. No mention of how you did the 360 engine. If you can determine that the EGR valve is stuck closed, no need for plate.

Hooked it up according to the vac diagram and engine ran like crap..unhookesd it and it runs great. I am going to leave it unhooked cause I don't need it.
Must be closed when no vac on it. I can live without it!
