Have a few good 340 blocks and I’m going to build a 416, just looking around for a good car to put it in. Leaning toward a 70 or 71 Duster or a late 60’s Barracuda. I’m curious what everyone’s vote is.
416 is perfect for A body . BB is perfect for B body.I think a 416 is perfect in a B body or a truck. Not the best in an A body street car ...but you'll get a lot of tire smoke.
If you're racing and build the suspension for it, A body all the way.
A 416 is basically a big block now, displacement is what matters not the outer dimensions of the block (performance wise).416 is perfect for A body . BB is perfect for B body.![]()
Is a 361 a small block then?A 416 is basically a big block now, displacement is what matters not the outer dimensions of the block (performance wise).
Basically is, displacement is generally the main attribute that one wants when choosing big block. Is a 361 a small block then?
I agree, cubes is cubes be it small block or big block and many small blocks end up with more cubes than a big block. However, the bores of the big blocks allow for much bigger valves which from there ....Basically is, displacement is generally the main attribute that one wants when choosing big block.
Stroking a small block to big block sizes 400-440+ and adding killer heads and act like it's an under dog compared to big blocks never made sense to me, you built an big block (displacement) in a small block package.
One good thing the 361 has is a decent bore size though.
Not with that teeny weeny bore. lolA 416 is basically a big block now, displacement is what matters not the outer dimensions of the block (performance wise).
Bigger bore definitely have more potential but people generally been getting the hp they desire out of the average small block bore, most aren't building 1000+ hp NA motors needing monster bores and valves. Not with that teeny weeny bore. lol
I have a "stroker" in my '95 Grand Cherokee; it's a 4.0 block with a 258 crank. It displaces 4.6 liters now (280 CID up from the stock 4.0's 242). Throttle response is way better than the 5.2 option!I’d like to see one in a Jeep CJ5. Wheelies!
I put a stroker in my wife this mornin and she liked it.
