What year do I call it?

I have a 440 with a cast date of 1967 but assembly stamp (D) of 68. The heads are also 68's. What is the proper year to call it? Thanks.

D Series = 1968 Model year.

Blocks were cast by large numbers, but when they were actually built can be as much as a year later. I once had a late 71 cast date 340 with a 73 build date.
