Hey FABO!

1965 Barracuda 273/904 auto
7-1/4 rear, 10” drums front and back
aluminum slot wheels, 14x6

I’m looking for:

1x left hand thread wheel stud
(copper colored)

2x left hand thread lug nuts

2x right hand thread lug nuts

Please see the pictures for comparison to what I’m trying to match up with. If there is any other information that might be helpful please don’t hesitate to ask as I don’t know much more than what I’ve mentioned here… thanks so much for your time and help! All the best and happy wrenching!

Oh, you are looking for custom lug nuts for aluminum slot mags. Do you know the brand of the wheels? It might be stamped on the inside. Since those are obviously "vintage" they might be hard to find. What we know is that they are 7/16-20 thread. You need to know the shank diameter (the smooth part that fits the hole in the wheel) and the shank depth to find a match. I am sure you could find RH thread ones — LH might be tough. But try the wheel manufacturer's website if you can figure that out.

Dorman is the source for wheel studs. They have a huge database on their website. You can search by the thread (7/16-20 LH, say). You also need to know the knurl diameter (that's the splined area), the knurl depth, and the overall length. Dorman also makes nuts so you could check that out, too.

I might actually have a couple of those left-hand studs, now that I think of it. I see they are 1.5 inches long — I can do a quick check.

But if you can't get LH nuts, you will still be stuck. One solution would be to install RH studs (you have to have two of them installed already) and just buy another set of RH nuts. You will then have the weird situation of 3 RH thread wheels and 1 LH thread — but I'm in the same boat. Just have to remember to warn the guys at the tire shop.

Yeah, I have 10 of these studs. Here's a pic. I can mail 'em to you. But make sure you can get the LH nuts specific to your wheels.

Thank you! So it looks like I need to get some measurements of my lug nuts… I certainly appreciate the info because I don’t know, what I don’t know! Thank you for your time and the details! I’ll also noticed I’ll need the washers as well for a few of them… I’ll get back here with some more info of my wheels and lug nuts… thanks!

Thats great news! Outstanding even! Are these “spares” for you? I don’t want to be stealing from your stash if they’re of use to you!… what might be a fair price for them? PM works just fine if you order business discussions to be private. I’m going to get some more measurements and pictures of my lug nuts to find the LH ones.

These studs are "take offs" from my vehicles... I just never throw things away. I'll tell you what, I'll send you a set of 5 (so you have spares) for $5 to cover postage.

The chrome washers should be at the auto parts store, wherever the wheel lugs are. There might even be the correct RH nuts. But you won't find LH at the store, since the last car that used them is 40+ years old.

So long as that’s fair for you and I’m not putting you out I surely would appreciate that! Thank you so much! It’ll be just a few before I can get some precise measurements on the lug nuts… it’s a little cold here today in the peace garden state and my caliper seems to be a little “frozen”

I did take some more pictures of the wheels… I cannot find a a manufacturer anywhere on them… I did clean off what I could quickly to see some of the other information on the inside of the wheel… maybe it means something to you??? But I’m completely lost… I’m starting to wonder if the wheels can even be cleaned up for safe and functional use… I surely hope so as they’re a very important part of my dads car and his story…

I just called my dad and he says they are “US MAGS”

That surface corrosion can be buffed off. Don't use a wire brush or anything steel. Look up "care of aluminum wheels".

Measure the hole diameter, which should be the same as the shank diameter. And take one of your lugs to the parts store and compare to what they have. The 7/16-20 size is kind of old-fashioned — they may only have 1/2" sizes. But you might as well check..

That’s a good idea! Thank you! I’m going to measure them and see what I can find… maybe tomorrow I’ll call US Mag and see if they have any helpful information … I just spoke to my dad and he said that this would have been 76-77 when he got the wheels put on and it had Goodyear polyglas G60 tires all the way around… he says they had to “jack up the front end as much as they could just to get them to fit…”

A lot of mysteries… I surely hope I havnt bored you or wasted your time… I certainly appreciate your help and time! Please let me know how I can get you paid for those studs and what works best for you!

Like I said, make sure you can find the LH lugs before I bother sending you the studs. American Racing might be another wheel company to check with. I don't know if ET Racing Wheels is still around.

I can take PayPal or Venmo, or just mail me a check when it gets to that point.

Sounds good thank you! I’ll keep you posted with what I can find out about LH nuts and we’ll go from there, maybe we’ll get lucky and another FABO brother will chime in with some LH lug nut treasures… thanks again I’ll keep in touch!

Here’s some of the measurements I got… I tried calling us mag, no answer, I’ve read and heard good things about “lug nut king” I might try and email them some pictures???

I entered this string "chrome mag wheel lug nuts 7/16-20" into Google and got a lot of hits. Here is one that really looks close. Check your dimensions.

7/16" Chrome Mag Lug Nut 20 TPI Thread Pitch 1.45" Depth, 10 Pack | eBay

These have slightly different styling but offer LH and RH threads:

20 Lug Nuts 1/2" Chrome Mag Shank Mopar LH & RH Thread | eBay
Ok sweet! I’ll check those out and double check my dimensions! I just emailed a bunch of pictures to lug nut king as well, thanks for your help! We’re getting close!

Oh, one dimension you should also figure out is thread depth. You won't be able to use calipers for that.
