wiper motor mounting question

Been a while since I took the windshield wiper motor off and I don't remember which way the steel bushing things go. It has one short side and one long side. At first I thought they mounted on engine compartment side of the wiper motor followed by a rubber spacer, then I figured out they mount between the wiper motor and the firewall(on the studs), but not sure which side (short or long)goes towards the firewall.

If you are talking about the metal grommet inserts the washer side goes toward the engine compartment.

These?

If they have a peice like that for both sides of the rubber then I don't think it matters which goes on which side.

Heres a couple pics. I think I have it right, but am not sure. Sure there be a rubber bushing between the wiper motor and firewall(2nd pic).
