Regarding 83/4 differential what is the measurement difference between a 7290 large and 7260 small yoke?

The difference between the 7260 and 7290 yoke inner width size is 0.5 inch.
The cap retaining areas differ by 0.047 inch between the 7260 and 7290 yokes.
The following images show the sizing (G) at the driveshaft or differential yoke, plus the cap diameters (D):
7260 and 7290 yoke and universal joint sizing detail:
