It would be terrific to have as many participants as possible to get as many suggestions on the table as we can. So far, most of the ideas concerning the giveaway have been generated by the contest entrants themselves rather than impartial third party observers or those who donated prizes.

I think this is important for the members who have supported Leanna in her endevours on this and for FABO in general.

I've been watching the thread with some interest for a while now and would like to see some of the older members help Leanna out on the awarding of prizes. Some of the ideas she's gotten are fantastic ideas and have come from various sources. I will say, though, that a lot of those good ideas have come from the contest entrants. :-D

That being said I believe it would be helpful for some who aren't within the bounds of the contest to help Leanna with some of the brainstorming on this. Objectivity and fairness is the goal for those who have donated and participated in this and those who aren't within the guidelines of being contestants would bring a lot to the table on how best to award prizes so as to keep our young guns inspired and motivated.

I will say that I won't be taking part of this session, as I have a young gun signed up as a contestant and in no way do I want to spoil this contest as being seen as politicking on his behalf or being seen as bringing ideas to the table which aren't objective and fair to the rest who are participating.

[cosgig] 8:34 pm: I agree that the winners should be chosen out of a hat, and I see it like sort of a door prize theme that I have seen at many a golf outing. all of the prizes are laid out, a contestant gets drawn and they go up and pick their prize, and so on down the line until all of the prizes are gone. If it's going to be more than a one time event, pick a set number of winners each drawing and reserve the rest of the prizes that were not picked for the next drawing

Sorry for not being there when it happened, Leanna. Migraine. And I think last night would have just made it worse.

I did not know that leanna started another thread....I have still been checking in on the other 2 threads and happened to run across this one.

its alot of reading everyone but there are some good ideas in there.....we pretty much all came to a general agreement but left it up to leanna to make the final choices on what to do and how to do it and we all agreed to give some others a chance to review things and give there input on the hole thing so leanna knows everyone's feelings on it.

But I think we have a good thing going.

And just so everyone is clear......your input matters even if you are a contestant....even if you are a contestant you will gain nothing special from participating as it is going to be a random drawing and there is no telling who will be picked.
I personally wanted to try and help out to say thank you to leanna for even putting the hole thing on and since this is going to be an on going contest.....it benefits future young guns aswell.
And since fabo is a community it only makes sense that something like this be tackled as a community.

I will keep checking in to see where this goes

Wanna know what seems the most fair to me? Draw a name, draw a prize, keep the transport in reserve to be used at the discretion of the donor and the winner. (Say if someone wins an engine or trans.)
Why? Completely random. Completely fair. If the contestant winds up with a prize he or she can't use, then it's a fair practice and polite to contact the donor about selling the prize for cash which may be used towards something else his or her project may need. Or, in the spirit of the contest and the giving, donate it back to the next contest.
