Do these things serve a useful purpose on drum brake studs? They're a PIA to get off. I'd just as well do without them.

Omg...

Those are the single most important part of the rear end.

They are a safety device to keep the drum from falling off should the wheel fall off.

That way you still have control while safely driving at just under the speed limit to the nearest tire store.

As stated above assembly line use only. I have never even seen one on a car, new or old!


Now if you are going to compete in a 1000 point concorse competition, better have them on!
