"1969 440 Block and main caps, over the counter block with no VIN stamped into it $2500.00 (708)288-2879 Scott"

oh golly jeeez.... let me guess... so it can be ratty tatty and covered in old sheets but God forbid it should have something that goes against tradition.. swim against the current once in a while, it's invigorating
Ive been swimming the current. I'm building a 74 dart with a body kit, a 440, oh and I went not only against the purist in the suspension area but against the forum's favorite suspension builder and got a Gerst kit....

Yes but that doesn't mean i cant or wont be made fun of for those choices, heck, i fully expect too be.

yeah no kidding, if i were him, i'd run it as is, throw a blanket over it like they used too and call it done.
And that's what you will be doing on yours????
The plan was to buy a cheap seat cover temporarily. At this point I am planning to get it inspected and tag regular. So, for now the main issue is getting lower insurance as an antique. I may still shop around for ins, but if I can do a couple things now that I want to do anyway... and save a buttload of money....
Current plan is to add it to my State Farm policy monthly payment to get it on the road. And try to get this stuff done ASAP.

if i were trying to simply get it legal to drive, yeah. Or even go to walmart and get one of those cheap neoprene ones. I guess it depends on the insurance company but are they requiring it to be 100% perfect?

Hey Keefer, There is an auto upholstery place near me that could sew one up for you. They've been around for a lot of years and do good work.

Any idea what that would go for? Split bench with headreasts. I have not looked to go that route, just figured 'custom' = big$. I don't have to have exact material - similar quality/close color would be fine. I think that's what drives Legendary's price so high.

Man, i forgot just how sad the late70s and the 80s were for the car market. Co-worker of mine bought a 79 B200 360 powered van over the weekend. 2 barrel 727, 8.25 rearend. I was suprised to see that the van 360 was rated at only 145 HP!

Custom doesn't necessarily mean expensive. I really don't know what they would charge but you can give them a call. It's possible they can just sew in a few of the panels and save the rest. You might also save some $$ but taking off the cover yourself and bringing it to them for the sewing. I can help you with the removal/re-installation and foam rebuilding.
