The 2.94 is a decent gear really. Just don’t expect to outrun much. Ha
Yes, very well behaved in first. Certainly not a Prius, but very civilized. This is the 408 yes.Cpearce, is this your W2 motor?
If so remind me of the cam you are running.
How is from a stop in normal driving? Can you putter in 1st without it bucking?
That will be fine, I have 28" tires and "currently" 3.55 gears. As it is I can vaporize the tires at any speed until top end of third. Your setup will pull hard. My reasoning for the 2.94 gears is a couple of 400 mile trips planned for season. For local running around and strip time the 3.55 gears will go back in. A word of caution, even 3.55 gears with the 3.09 transmission, first gear is over very quickly. Get a rev limiter. My cam will be a little more aggressive...I was a bit surprised with the custom grind that was ordered but he knew my application and I trust he knows his stuff. And I will be running 3.91s and a 3.09 1st with 26ish tall tires.

I know you didn't ask me but, justCpearce, is this your W2 motor?

I always find your posts informative AJ. Thanks for directing me towards the 3.09 box. I like it so much I even bought a spare.I know you didn't ask me but, just
FYI
I run a 230/237 @.050 in a 10.9Scr Eddie-headed 367, with a 10.97 starter gear. I can drag the idle down to 550 with a 750DP, in 3.09 lowgear before the bucking starts. That's 4mph for my combo. But I have to retard the timing to 5* advanced to soften the power pulses, to do that; with the Jacob's electronic retarder. After that I have to put a toe on the CenterForce. But I can get her down to about 3mph on a hard level flat surface, slipping the clutch,to ease the bucking. She won't stay running at 550 with any less than 5* thru the 750. Now the TQ I had...........
Taking off with a 10.97 starter gear is almost a dump it and go deal with my heavy flywheel. She has spent many many hours on the low-speed circuits.
My idle timing is 12 to14, power is 28*@2800 and 32/34 @3200/3400, on any given day, and bonus- it burns 87E10 full-time.
BTW,3to4mph would be impossible with the Vcan hooked to manifold vacuum.I'd be riding a bronco, and dragging the brakes, and slipping the clutch; at probably 5to6.
Hope you find this useful
