    Oil Pump

I like the engine masters guys. They are doing stuff that people question. Those numbers are peak TQ/HP and rounded to the nearest 100 RPM. So pretty good proof to me. I just replaced my oil pump with a HV and did have a dramatic impact and the pressure numbers pretty much are the same as...

LA318 stock to mild build harmonic balancer suggestion.

Since I am pulling the timing cover I want to put a new balancer on. My 69 motor has never been messed with, so it has stock pistons, crank, rods and block are stock and never machined. Picking a new one seems more confusing than it should be. Can someone recommend one that will fit and work...

    Worthwhile upgrade to Hughes rockers?

Thanks for the guidance. The Hughes rockers are sitting inside my 2.02 J heads waiting for dome pistons for a high compression build since I can run pump gas at my elevation, 8000 ft. Then the timing chain will be my next project. It had a bit of slop in it. I will see if the pan leaks and...

    Worthwhile upgrade to Hughes rockers?

I have a original stock valve train 69 318. I had the 675 heads done years ago to put in brass guides, new valves and comp stock like springs. Put everything back together with original parts; pushrods and rockers back then. The head were cut just enough to smooth them out. Don’t remember...

Lol. Did my valves/heads 3 years ago $1100... the $2500 is no assembly other than plugs and bearings...

Switch to solid lifters with oem cam?

Wish it wasn’t. That is Colorafornia. And it is a day trip from me. After hot tank, bore and hone, zero the deck, line hone, balance assembly, plugs and bearings it is well into 2k.

Switch to solid lifters with oem cam?

Pretty sure, they are original with original heads and original stamped rockers. I have adjustable rockers in a set of 2.02 J heads on a shelf in my shop.

Switch to solid lifters with oem cam?

Silly to do just camshaft. With the engine out, need to do a rebuild. After 6 months wait and $2500 for machine work, I am 4K into a motor. looks like I will buy new hydraulic lifters to fix my sticky one. Maybe get a whole set so I can get 16 chances at 1 good one. My springs are 901...

Switch to solid lifters with oem cam?

from the daily lifter problem threads “good quality hydraulic lifters” are luck not brand. I don’t want to pull the intake multiple time just to fix crappy new lifters. And I am certainly used to the sound, my other engine doesn’t even have lifters... 24v Cummins

Switch to solid lifters with oem cam?

Can I save myself the trouble on a 69 318 of trying to find good replacement Hydraulic lifters by switching to solid lifters? I know I would need different pushrods and adjustable rockers. But can’t do a full rebuild right now. But I am tired of lifter tick. I already have Hughes rockers...

    340 Lifter failure, now what

So switch to solids and leave the HFT cam in? I would do that switch but I didn’t think a HFT cam and a solid lifters would last. Different length push rods, adjustable rockers and solid lifters with a stock HFT cam and call it good? That is all you need?

    Engine machining costs??

When pricing that same work around Denver, it would be about twice that amount. So that is a bargain. It is amazing how much cheaper everywhere else is, makes me jealous. There is a 3 month wait to pay 2x as much and get less work done! From a couple years ago. $80 Hot tank $225 Bore and Hone...

318 pistons to bring compression up

no a kb167 is a +5cc flat top and a kb399 is a -6.2cc dome. Everything else is the same. Both are Hypereutectic aluminum.

    Dyno shop tested 318

That is a lot of lift for “stock” 318 heads... my stock 2.02 j-headed 318 is going to stay under .500. If you have stock stamped rockers I assume you are losing some lift. But .520 is still a lot for stock springs.

So why don’t the kb399’s get mentioned to raise compression?

Engine dies, but turn the key off and back on it fires right back up

Follow up to close out this thread. About 10 days ago I received the new ecu. Since replacing the blue box from summit with the lx101, I haven’t had any problems! Driven about 100 miles. So all good!

Engine dies, but turn the key off and back on it fires right back up

So I spent a couple hours under the hood and used a 1/4 tank of gas trying to find the issue. Found nothing loose or shorting out. Searched the key, resistor, coil, distributor, battery, grounds, ecu. Nothing, not even a miss or sputter. I am going to buy a lx101 to replace the blue summit...

Engine dies, but turn the key off and back on it fires right back up

Stock’ish 69 318. Converted to mopar style electronic ignition couple years back. Summit racing brand. Ballast resistor still in place. Engine been running fine for a couple thousand miles on the electronic setup. It just started in the last day, to die driving down the road. I turn the...

PUSH ROD OPTIONS FOR 318 WITH EDELBROCK HEADS

Change oil pump while replacing pan gasket

Maybe stupid question? How did you prime it before starting? I guess maybe you had intake off as well and pulled the timing gear and used a priming shaft? Or is there a trick I don’t know?

Looking to get tunes back! Bluetooth or wired or whatever.

What I am looking for maybe doesn't exist. But wondered maybe my google skills just can't locate what I think I want. Radio is dead in my 69, replacing with a "custom" unit that cost $100's is not worth it for me, I would rather spend that on mechanical upgrades etc. But it would be nice not...

    [SOLD] Smith brothers push rods

I think that depends on how Smith Measures? I think they are probably 7.250" Ball to inside cup. Which makes them about 7.389" total length? That is my guess. But I am known to be wrong.

    Kb399 questions

I already have 2.02 j heads that are cut .008. I am cutting the deck at 9.578 which according to KB, put the pistons .010 above deck. So I think I am going to be closer than .0675. I think a lot closer. Piston specs say it is a .200” dome...
