    okay lets take a few steps back, so how do i lower my 5 inch reading to 3/4 to zero? timed vacuum = 5 in <-- i need to lower this one to 0 / 3/4? manifold vacuum = 25 in

    okay ... timed vacuum is far left which is what the V-can is connected to and what gave me a reading of 5 inches. the middle is connected to my valve cover PCV valve. and the far right is manifold port which reads 25 inches. i have... <-- 1411 edelbrock carburetor. i feel completely...

    i recently purchased a vacuum gauge to do the AIR/FUEL setting on my carb (edelbrock 1411) and on the left side i am getting 5psi on the right i am getting 25psi does this sound right? (MANIFOLD/mechanical) if the can on the distributor goes bad what symptoms would i have? i dont think this...

    thanks guys. So now at least we have identified the issue here. i just downloaded the edelbrock owners manual and will be getting a rebuilt kit and re doing the floats. thanks. once i do that i will keep you guys posted and hope its resolved.

    i will try this, i took it apart last night and cleaned everything but the needle and seat :( [fail] yes i do have a filter. fairly new i replaced it a few months ago.

    I know this is old but, (high jacked) edelbrock 1411 four barrel Looking down at the carb. While at idle it dribbles fuel from the fuel needles is this a sign of flooding or is this normal? Just curious ..... Problem = low idle sputter... Timing is good. No air leak.

    New ones? new floats? or new carburetor? or new pins? (the pins that lift floats.) :coffee2::burnout: i have some experience with carburetors but from motorcycle im guessing its similar anyways. if its flooding it means that the pins under the floats are stuck correct causing them to flood...

    ANOTHER SYMPTOM i forgot to mention was that the car idles a bit hectic(higher rpm/ sputtery if this makes sense ) on [PARK] and on gear it idles pretty good. does this sound like timing or can this be resolved in a different manner?

    ive replaced all carb. gaskets .. and tightened all screws... some one said maybe the metering rods or springs... but havent tried that. sounds to me like a vacuum issue. :glasses7:

    okay so if i understand correctly your saying i should fully back out the idle screw then check for vacuum @ the manifold port :blob:and then retune my mixture screws.

    I had the same issue, because I had replaced the base and gaskets of the carburetor/intake with thicker versions so because it was taller the throttle cable was throwing the idle off. Stupid mistake that I overlooked. Thank guys for the clear insight always turns out to be some thing small...
