    727 Build Suggestions

I am preparing for a big block swap. 383 is basic, with cam, intake, headers, etc. I am going to have a hard shifting 727 built. What are some in the trenches stuff that needs to be done? If memory serves, there was something about a bolt in sprag? I am going for either a TCI or B&M full...

HELP: Need 97 and up 360 Magnum flex plate WITH WEIGHTS

I can't get Napa's site work (too fluffy and stoopid user layedout), but I was able to buy the necessary weighted flywheel for the 360 swap at a fraction of what the dealers locally wanted. I presume they would have your flexplate too.

    Which would be more fun, a 904 w/a 3000 stall or a 5 speed?

I will tell you from experience, the 5 speed in the trucks don't shift very fast. It may be mine and age of the transmission, but the diesel guys back it up as well. It is just not a very fast reacting trans. When I stand on it in my truck, there is no 2nd gear chirp, cause the trans takes it...

    Junyard Dana 60.

I concern over using the original axles because of the register for the center bore of the wheels. Most 5x4.5 wheels have a 3.3 inch center bore, where 5x5.5 has about 4.25 center bore. I would consider contacting one of the alxe suppliers (Strange, Moser, Mark Williams, etc) and have some...

    8 3/4 chunk math - sticker shock

On one hand it sounds like you are going to have this case for a long time, as you want to build it strong enough to support the larger motor down the road. On the other hand, you are concerned about resale value. These seem to contradict each other. If you have the 741 that you can build for...

727 Transmission, rebuild kit brands / opinions

I have a 69-70 vintage 727 Big Block trans, going to be going behind a 383. I have a well qualified transmission guy, that is going to build it (I want to watch on the first transmission) What are recommendations for brand of kit to put in the transmission? BB combo is going into the 75...

    Powertrax Lock Right

I could barely hear it over the exhaust. The Lock-Rite makes noise. If they offer a "Powertrax" they redesigned it with a ring so that when the wheels are turning different speeds, it rides on this ring/ridge and does not click. It will give a small click or 2 once you get back straight...

8 ¾ What may have caused this?

I agree, it seems as if someone got a little aggressive on the machining of the outside of the carrier. It seems small compared to ring gear, but I have not been inside an 8.75 recently.

    Cost to cut down a C body 8 3/4?

Anyone had an axle cut down recently? I have a C body 8 3/4 that I will need to cut down to use in my 75 Colt project. I am curious as to what the normal cost is for this service.

    Richmond Powertrax or Detroit Locker?

The Power Trax and lower cost Lock Rite are the same unit, with the exception that the Power Trax has a little ring built into it, so when the gears are separating to allow you to turn in corners, the Powertrax does not click like the Lock Rite. these are nice options to replacing the...

I am going to change from 7.25 rear end in 1976 Dart to 8.75 rear end. Are u joints different? What about driveshaft length? Will current 7.25 be too long or short? I have seen the small to large u joints in the past. Is this all I need? Bear in mind, this car is staying /6 powered. I...
