If you can get a kit to rebuild and you think you can do it. Go that route! I took my original PS... Sent it out to rebuild, it blew after 50 miles. Got a second one.. Had no assist with low idle. Third one FINALLY WORKED! What a PIA. Good luck!

So...after looking at the striped bolt...I called my a mechanic up...ran it by him and he said bring it down. Which actually works out cuz I was going to do it anyways to have a different set of eyes look over the car to giv me any ideas or suggestions on my first rebuild. As it turns out good...

Aloha! I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to PS pumps. Long stories as yours...Napa sent mine in for rebuild...issues from day one...that blew after 35 miles. Ordered a rebuild from Rockauto...works but no assist when parking (Low rpm's) so I need another...Rockauto will do the rebuild...

Sounds like you did the right thing. I transfered my 90 degree brass fitting from my original steering gear to the rebuilt. No leaks.

Aloha! A little background first...1966 'cuda 273 totally rebuilt everything in the engine compartment. Took the original PSP and had it rebuilt. From first start up the PSP was not right. Just scalding hot and after 35 miles on the new engine blew the pressure hose in two. Ordered a new PSP...

It fit perfect. Pressed on. Do I even need to put a bolt in it? I guess i could just to keep grime out... still getting the air out of the system so it's a little stiff more driving should help it i think.

Aloha! I have a original (Right) style Federal pump that has the press on pulley. Can I use that pulley on the new rebuilt pump that has the threaded (left) type shaft? The shaft appears the same diameter. Do I just need to get a bolt and washer and install? see photo... Mahalo...

On the K frame the nut doesn't go all the way through. If I had to cut a hole it would have to be in the k frame lower. It has an angled portion on top that allows the welded nut to sit. To get to that nut... I think you'ed have to cut the frame.... DAMN!!' Thank you for all your ideas. Keep...

Aloha all! I got it installed. Old neighbor works for a dealership and pressed it right out. He was done in 5 minutes! Yes! And that is the Doug's headers installed (Well sitting there waiting for the engine) it had enough wiggle room to slide into place without removing the TB.

Wjajr~ mahalo! I did paint the engine bay. Everything in the engine bay has been or is going to be gone thru. Rewrapped the electrical, added relays for headlight relays. Engine is sitting on the side waiting for new brake lines. Tranny will be done this week and so will the power steering pump.
