    76 breaks problem

I’m learning a lot from this thread and I don’t even have a dog in the fight here. Thanks for the detailed info/problem solving from everyone here.

    76 breaks problem

That’s the ‘fun’ in working on a older car. Even if it’s been in one family for a long time, unless whoever has the car now was left with a stack of receipts or was almost beside the previous owner/family member when parts were being replaced or upgraded, it’s a crap shoot wondering what the...

    Brake booster brace

Chrysler bean counters did an excellent job over the years determining what could be cut from a carline over the years to help the bottom line. The bean counters likely would have asked ‘can we stop including these support braces next year?´ to the engineering team. Team would have said ‘nope...

73 duster front brakes locking up when coming to a stop.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. Where is the picture of your setup?

73 duster front brakes locking up when coming to a stop.

How about posting some pictures (disc brakes, master/booster, rear brakes (with drums off) and distribution block) of what you have.

'72 Scamp Can I just fix the front brakes to get it home?

Tell us when you plan to drive that time bomb on wheels so none of us are on the road with you. We’ll then on the lookout for any news reports of a 72 Scamp causing an accident in Montana so we can provide this thread to the insurance company that has to deal with yours as part of this terrible...

1975 Plymouth duster brake relay question?

As others have commented, that is a mess of wiring. Hopefully you carry a fire extinguisher in your car? Disabling that seat belt interlock is a start but do consider buying a new harness soon. What a dogs breakfast that looks like! If your Duster still has the fender tag, it will tell you...

'73 up brake distribution block/proportioning valve question

Not sure who is being asked for photos but here‘s a 75 master cylinder and booster.

'73 up brake distribution block/proportioning valve question

This thread took a turn as it started off about proportioning valves and then went to master cylinders.

    caliper bolt pin threading confirmation

Good points. The OP is located in France so ordering a new one wouldn’t be as straightforward as if he lived in the States.

    Brakes figure this one out

Ugh, that’s not good. Hopefully the storage shed collapsed like a cheap lawn chair??? Is there a pool of fluid on your garage floor? Brake fluid doesn’t evaporate. If not on the garage floor then either in the booster or the footwell of the car!

    73 Duster Calipers

The front disc brakes from ‘73 to ‘76 were all the same (single piston) compared to the earlier KH brakes. Have you found something that states ’76 front discs were different than the discs in ‘73?

    74 Swinger brake CLUNK!

Have you jacked the rear end up, put the car in neutral and turned the wheel? How easily does it turn? What about the other side, does it turn freely?

size and source for power disc brake vacuum hose

As someone else said above, 11/32 is the correct diameter. It’s not a common size so, after striking out finding it in stores, I ordered it online.

I thought this was going to be a post about using sheet metal as front brake splash shield or rear drum?

Power Brake Booster! Black or Plated?

My ‘75 power brake booster is plated and it’s original to the car. I suspect the ones you’ve seen that are black are aftermarket.

Okay, what is this thing on my bail?

    Here’s mine. Car had a production date of Feb 14, 1975 .
  20. H22A4

Okay, what is this thing on my bail?

It’s not a rebuilders tag. My 75 Scamp has the same tag and the master cylinder and booster has never been out of the car. It’s a date code tag and someone will chime in with how to translate that to a date.

    1970 Dart Swinger Brake Fluid

Phew, I thought this thread was going to be about finding a jar of NOS 1970 Dot 3 brake fluid or asking if someone has some NOS 1970 brake fluid specially designed for a Dart.

68 Barracuda: Need help with eBrake assembly

Welcome to the site... a 4.5 year member and only 5 posts? I suggest downloading a 1968 Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your Barracuda. Not only will it show you the parking brake cable assembly but everything else about your car too as you put it back together.

Wow is all I have to say.....Rock Auto

Lordco’s selection of brands is getting worse by the year. They have managed to squeeze out a lot of the independent shops over the years and now they are dropping lines since there isn’t as much competition anymore. Thankfully there are other options such as Rock Auto or NAPA. I bought...

    Restoring appearance of master cylinder?

I know the right answer is “remove it and either take it apart or buy a new one”. Short of doing that, which I will do one of these years, has anyone tried to restore the appearance of their master cylinder while it’s still in the car, and if so, how did you do it? Were you pleased with the...
