    413 intake gasket questions

I think you are talking about the valley pan gasket. Yup you can buy them, it's just a tin gasket that seals the intake ports and seals the oil in on the top of the engine. I use sealant on the ends of the pan gasket.

Big block duster pain in the A$$

These ideas really help. I'm running a RB and I put the trans and motor in together and it does take 2 people but doesn't go in to bad. I also pull the rad out for the extra clearance for setting the motor in with trans bolted up. Steering column out helps the TTI headers go in as well and a...

    headers for bb duster

My TTI's fit snug but once in they sat up off the road and went in with very little modification and are under chassis. This is the best full tube header I've installed on an Abody. This is in a 440 in a 74 Duster 727 with manual steering. For the least hassle but not full tube I've also used...

Putting a big block into an A-Body

Thanks, I even remember that mag... just doesn't feel like it was 13 years ago.

big block headers in a body

Here is a link to Big block dart on putting B body headers into an A body. They are on a low deck though. http://www.bigblockdart.com/techpages/BBody.shtml Quote from BBD 'Standard Hedman B-body headers and a 383. Manual steering is required, and starter access isn't very good, but they...

    Pro Comp Heads & TTI

I think if you are running a RB the 1/4 of an inch will cause the header to hit the under side of the car as it is very close fit. If you are running a B, I think they will fit. (Sorry I have no pics of my 440 TTI combo) Are you running a motor plate or mounts? If you are running a plate you...

    Header Questions

If you want easy go with the Schumachers (and don't trap mini starter). I have the TTI's in my Duster, but you can't beat the ease of the fit of the schumachers (had them in my 383 Scamp). The TTI's fit like a tight glove. but the do fit nice with some engine rocking and a tad bit of swearing...

Newbie needing info -- 440/4spd into 71 Demon?

I agree with Jim above, I would go get a new or known good trans. I think a 23 spline trans and a 8 3/4 will hold up with the big block on street tires. But if you have to purchase a trans go with the 18 spline. As far as exhaust manifolds go, the A body ones sell for a lot and aren’t that...

    71 dart 383?

GT was just a trim level package, 67 68 69, I think that the GTS was the high perf version of the GT, so the GTS was a 340 or 383 V8, GSS was a 440 Dart.

What BB A-body traction problems do you have?

Dam a 2.76 rear with a 518 OD, if you are running a real tall tire you might not need the 518 LOL. 5500 rpm, 2:76 33" tall tire, top speed = ugh! Do you plan this to be on the street mostly? It'll be a screamer on the highway thats for sure. Hey I agree with you on those jap fart pipes, you...

    Big block exh. manifolds

How about going with some BB B Body headers, you can get them cheap and modify them to fit. Here is the link for some info on the fitment. It also has a how to on HP BB manifolds on an A body. http://www.bigblockdart.com/techpages/techindex.shtml

Big blocks with motor plate & mid plates

I just used my small block K, just ground the mounts off. My motor plate dosn't look that nice in that pic above. I'll try and scan one of my old pics later for you to see what I did.

Big blocks with motor plate & mid plates

Tony when I did my motor plate they told me not to use an aluminium water pump housing. This was because it now holds the weight of the engine. I used an old housing and machined 3/8 of an inch off of it to allow for the thickness of the motor plate. I do use an aluminium water pump for weight...

    fender headers

Are you going to run your car on the strret? Two problems I found with them, is they leak at all the joins (and there is lots of them) and dam do they hang loooooow! I had them all orange siliconed up, and most of the leaks stopped. I ran my car on the street and when I purchased my third set...

    fender headers

I ran the CPPA headers (semi fenderwell) with frame connectors on a 440, with 4 speed and the way my brother use to race the car it held together. He would hit the rev limiter and basically side step the clutch, input shaft broke the odd time so we went to an auto trans.

    Elephant Ears, or Motor Mounts

I have elephant ears on my 74 Duster, and now I wish I had gone with the motor mounts. I originally did mine about 15 years ago and this car has gone through a lot of changes over the years,. But like a dummy I ground off the originall mounts on the K frame, although I do have another K frame...
