How to Install 14 Inch Brakes on an A-Body (or B/E also)

Cool! I was planning on doing something similar in the future even though I have 13" brakes from Dr. Diff. My suggestion, if possible, add a fillet between the transition from the caliper mount to the spindle mount. That's a location of a huge stress riser and I don't know if that was the issue...

Front disc for 17 inch wheels

The Brembo-like calipers are physically big, but if you look at the actual contact patch, it's not that large. With a low enough profile caliper, the general rule of thumb is to take the wheel diameter (17") and subtract it by 4" and that's the largest rotor you could possibly get away with (13"...

You will never go wrong with going with Doctor Diff. I love it and the quality is top notch.

Front disc for 17 inch wheels

Those calipers are pretty big. I tried them with some Mustang Billet wheels and they rubbed the inside of the wheel.

    Big brakes

I have the Stage 4 brakes from Dr Diff and I like them a lot. I took them to a track day and with manual brakes had no problems, no fade.

4 Wheel Disks with 1 1/32" Master - Yay or Nay?

I had one 2-bolt aluminum one on my Dart with KH up front and 10" in the back. Braking was easy and great. The only time I had to use two feet and hope the car stopped was when I was driving down the mountain with cheap pads. I have 4 wheel discs now and hopefully I won't need to change master...

Disc brake cooling, anyone done any ducts, scoops or....?

If anything, I'd imagine most people would get a chin spoiler and cut ducts through that or set the brake ducts off to the side of the spoiler.

69 Dart GT disk conversion question

AndyF used to make a kit I believe, but no longer. Check out Dr Diff. He has good, quality kits. 10.95" Front Disc Brake Kit (Stage 1) If you want to stay with small bolt pattern, try Scarebird.

using the stk 4 piston caliper?

Well, you're going to have sbp up front and bbp in the rear, if that's ok with you.

Need info all wheel disk conversion

Holy run-on sentence Batman! There aren't many/any disc brake conversions for an 8 1/4. Maybe try looking for an XJ Cherokee in the junkyard as those came with 8 1/4 and discs.

The Kelsey-Hayes Disk Brake Swap Thread

If you want to use KH discs, you have to buy Mustang Rotors and have them machined to accept the seal, I believe. Not worth it IMO. I'd rather go with something else.

Disc options for 73-76 drum spindle???

IIRC the truck rotors are used because the thickness is within the Viper rotor's operating clamping range. If you use the 1" rotors, those pads may not contact the rotors.

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

So, I had the opportunity to drive someone's '73 Duster today. It had 73+ discs up front and 10" drums in the rear. I didn't have my KH discs 100% dialed in at the time, but I felt like I had more confidence in my Dart's stopping than the Duster. My Dart had a tired 273, 904, 2.93 gears, and...

    Opinions on various conversion kits.

Cass, Doctor Diff, is a stand up guy. Lots of people have used his kits and his customer service is far above par.

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

I talked with my friend with him today. I told him more about the positive and negatives of both setups. He seems to sway more towards the KH discs as they'd be cheaper for the short term. I'll most likely sell him a lot of my extra parts (0.87" T-bars, my old 7 1/4 with better gearing and...

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

The kit is out of stock last I checked on Dr Diff's website. I still have a 10" drum spindle just in case I want a second car in the future.

73+ 10" Drum Spindle Disc Brake Kits

I haven't called him because I don't need them, yet. I've talked to Cass quite a few times. Definitely a stand up guy. However, now I'm debating about selling all of my spare parts.

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

Well, they're only an option because I have a rust free setup that's going to be lying around my garage for awhile. While the 17 x 7 and 17 x 8 wheels aren't the best (only fitting a 225/45 on the front and a 245/45 on the rear) the handling will be far better than the 14" wheels and super tall...

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

So, I talked to him more about what he's looking for short and long term. Essentially he wants to make his Dart into a "240SX" (believe me, I rolled my eyes at that one). He wants to carve canyons while still having a comfortable daily. I asked him if he wanted a high horsepower with big brakes...

    slotted and or drilled rotors

There's also a big difference between holes and slots cast into the rotor or machined into the rotor. The worse of the two is almost always the machined rotors as you're discontinuing the grain structure of the material causing stress risers (slots and holes are already a stress riser by...

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

Well, for short term, the good thing about using the KH stuff is he won't have to get new wheels and tires. he could run his 7 1/4 for now just to save weight (or swap in my spare to get the 10" drums). If he really wanted to he could buy my 8 3/4 sbp axles, 10" drums, and extra misc parts in...

73+ 10" Drum Spindle Disc Brake Kits

Besides Dr Diff, who makes Disc Brake kits for 73+ 10" drums spindles? Dr Diff has been out of them for awhile and I'm not quite sure when/if he'll bring them back. I'm not looking for a brake kit now, but it would be nice to know my options since I already have the spindles...

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

For me, I had KH discs. They were fine, but I was fighting braking bugs still when I removed them. I didn't get a chance to experiment with them completely. They didn't offer me good braking because I used the cheapest pads on the market (stupid mistake) However, I wouldn't rule them out as bad...

    KH Discs vs 73+ Discs

So, I have a friend with a '67 Dart that wants to do a suspension rebuild and update his front 9" drums to disc brakes. He's got a friend of a friend who may offer him a set of 73+ disc brakes with 10.75" rotors and 1 piston calipers. He's also interested in my KH disc setup and he was wondering...

    4 piston Kelsey hayes discs

Do not buy Raybestos pads from Rockauto... I overheated mine and they glazed over within the first 100 miles or so. If I were to put them back on a different car in the future, I'd probably go with Hawk's.

    Disc brakes

I rebuilt a set for my Dart, and I wasn't impressed. I had braking issues. They got hot once (going down a hill) and after that the brakes were extremely mushy. But it could have been a factor of a couple things (converted to manual brakes w/ adjustable pushrods, rear drums needed some...
