    8.25 Madness - Power Rating

I've been running a 4.10 Sure Grip 8 1/4 in my Duster for years and haven't had any issues with it. My 383 would be pulling around 400 h/p or so at the flywheel and it's been raced, gone in burnout comps and get's a lot of street driving and has held up fine.. I'll probably jinx myself now..

8.25 Centre and Sure Grip issues

If you jump on the Auburn Gear site it tells you on the 8.25 that a section of the diff has to be grind down so that the carrier can move and ring gear can engage and enough room for backlash adjustment...

    8.25 setup, any ideas?

Yeah, I don't have any idea what it's out of but I do know we had it sitting in the housing all well and good other than the backlash issues. I'm going to get my Father (who is a Fitter & Machinist) to mill me up a spacer to go between the ring gear and carrier and that should fix that issue and...

    8.25 setup, any ideas?

Hey Swinger, Exactly... The carrier is all correct, bearings fit and everything fits fine. I have heard that a section of the inner housing is to be grinded out to fit the aftermarket SG centres in 8.25.. The basic issue is the spacing between the pinion and gear for backlash. With the carrier...

8.25 Centre and Sure Grip issues

Hi All, I've got a couple of issues with the Chrysler 8.25 rear in my '76 Duster. I purchaed a Sure Grip Centre and 3.55 gear last year and a few weeks ago I went to Diff Shop to get them put in and got a call later that day that the Sure Grip is incorrect.. Basically there's way too much...

Chrysler 8 1/4 Sure Grip Centre

I'm going to pop down there in an hour or two and find out what's going on. The diff is the existing 8 1/4 in my '76 Duster. I would say that it would have 2:7 or 2:9 gears in it. Unless the place I got the Sure Grip from gave me wrong hemisphere but I doubt it... Just unusual as when I saw the...

Chrysler 8 1/4 Sure Grip Centre

Hi All, Just got an issue with my 8 1/4 diff. I've got the diff at workshop having Sure Grip Centre and 3:55 gears put in. I got a call today from them saying that the Sure Grip hemisphere is incorrect. I'm quite sure its an 8 1/4 centre.. All the 8 1/4 diffs are virtually the same are they...

    1976 Plymouth Duster Info

Yeah, I've been looking for a good A-Body for a while as I sold my Aussie Valiant and it was time I moved into a Yankee machine. Was looking at a Demon, a Dart Sport and a couple of Dusters. I just loved the colour combo and options on this car. It's about to be put into a container and heading...
