    Very impressed with gas mileage

28 mpg would be nice, but my '73 340 w/ 2.71 gears, ps, pb, a/c getting 10 mpg...I have no complaints. Love all that power.

    Best cocktail

White vinegar tends to have seven percent acetic acid, which I have found works very well on small parts. You have to be patient, it's a very slow process. I have done fuel sender locking rings, they came out after three weeks looking brand new. It should do well in a corroded piston/cylinder...

If you want to find non-ethanol gas in your area.....

I hope Stewarts shops keep selling the 91 non-ethanol. I don't care that it cost more, provides a good running engine. I only wish you could still purchase leaded fuel.

If you want to find non-ethanol gas in your area.....

I hope our government doesn't stop the allowance of non-ethanol fuel in the future. Our old gas burners NEED it and want it.

    Part Identification and Parts Website

I purchased my pressure hose from Classic Industries. Just make sure that yours is either a flared fitting or an o-ring one. Mine called for a flare fitting hose end but my OEM factory pump took an o-ring hose. I found out from very good sources that on the assembly line if your pump was not...

    New gas tank question

I had Instrument Specialities in RI rebuild my OEM sender. They do very good work and provide you with the readings afterwards when requested.

    New gas tank question

I would look at the sending unit wire. You move it around when replacing the unit so, I would start there. Look for cracks in the wire jacket which can allow corrosion in the wire. Double check the ground system again to ensure that you have a good contact. Start with someone reading the gauge...

    72-73 rear bumper

I put a 72 bumper on my 73, so there should be no problem. I didn't want the bumperettes anymore and didn't want the holes.

When did you "know" you were a car guy?

Not many of us had formal training. I use to read Motors Manual to obtain the most knowledge of many systems. You're a car guy if you enjoy driving them, going to shows and swap meets. Certain work you may have to call on the pros. It's OK.

When did you "know" you were a car guy?

I’d have to say it was back in the late fifties, ten years old and got the bug. A teenager who live down the street was always working on his hotrod in the driveway. I would go over and watch him work on the engine every day. Back then you tried to get as much horsepower out of a small V-8 as...

    Taillight questions

I used Butyl tape on the tail panel openings prior to installing the light assembly with gaskets. It gave an extra seal, just don't plan on removing the assembly, it will be a bear to get them off.

Would you take the money or the car?

It's a no brainer for me, I'd have to choose the ride over the 50k. The value of the car should increase over time if kept in concours condition. Oh yeah, show it off! The 50k would go thru the fingers too quickly.
