    New fuel gauge sender option

I have an OEM sender (restored by Instrument Specialities) because I wanted to keep using my original fuel gauge. Any other modifications (i.e. mentioned above) would lead to issues in the future in my opinion. I'm too old to change now.

    Fuel tank venting

As mentioned above, I would go with the original vent tube into the engine bay and connect it to the "carbon can" system. The carb would vent to it too. I would go that route, you just need the second fuel line.

    Spectra fuel sending unit

Do you still have the OEM unit? If so, get it rebuilt by Instrument Specialties, Inc., N. Kingstown, RI 02852. They are the best in the industry, had mine done by them. Very nice work.

    Gas Tank

Hey nodemon. I used Bill Hirsch fuel tank sealer in my new tank. Just a piece of insurance against any future corrosion. Took my time with it and let it cure for several days. Also, used it on my sender unit too. Alcohol Resistant Gas Tank Sealer | Car Fuel Tank Sealer-hirschauto.com

    Gas Tank

Tanks Inc. is the best manufacturing company for fuel tanks I've come across. They make the correct impressions where necessary even the turn-ups to clear the exhaust systems. Mine was a spot-on match to my old OEM tank.

Can I install a new fuel sender unit on a 72 duster without removing the tank?

Can you tell where the leak is coming from exactly? Are you sure it's not the filler neck where it goes into the tank? You are better off pumping the tank down into containers rather than burning the fuel.

What's the absolute maximum range of your Duster?

Boy, do I remember odd and even ration of fuel. Driving up I-95 to get back home from the base only having to wait until the date changed after midnight to buy fuel. Nixon lowering the speed limit to 55 too.

What's the absolute maximum range of your Duster?

Cruiser, I get between 10-12 using non-ethanal 92. I always fill mine it back up at 1/4, ran out of gas too many times by pushing it. Carry a spare jug of fuel for your trip.

Post a photo of an original 74 Duster fuel tank sending unit 3621615?

That's too bad Dennis. I wish I never thew mine away with the tank. I had no idea that the aftermarket ones now are all linear resistance and won't work the the stock fuel gauge. Hard lesson.

    Fuel tank recommendations?

After spending $$ for a new tank I thought it was cheap insurance to keep the inside lasting longer. I use ethanol free 91 but no corrosion from moisture in the tank. It's been four years with no issues, good product.
