LMC trucks just came out with parts for these trucks. I just got the new catalog, you can order one at the link. They have wiring harnesses and any patch panel parts you might need. Looks like a nice body. As for those seats, I'm with your opinion they gotta go.

Changing intake gasket on a 170, any tips?

A bad intake valve would cause backfire, not sure about a vacuum leak.

Overheating issue with the old slant 6

That's right, and since you can see the flow in the radiator after it warms up the thermostat is OK.

Overheating issue with the old slant 6

If your heater core is leaking you do not have a sealed system. Replace the heater core and radiator cap. A new cap does not always mean a good cap.

Overheating issue with the old slant 6

Is it really overheating with steam and overflow? If you overfill the system it will purge the excess. Are you checking the temperature with a thermometer or relying on your 40 year old gauge?

    Crate 225?

There are slants out there for sale, they are just not advertised because not that many people want one. Look for the build threads where people are pulling the slant for a V8 and inquire. Also stick up a wanted post. I'm not aware of any crate engines but the occaisional NOS block will show...

If I have to pull it from the top ?

I sure didn't see them two holes you guys are talking about on my 80 truck. Coming out, I used the mentioned front of the head alternator bracket hole and the chain wrapped around the back of the manifold and bolted. Going back in I did a three point chain to the other alternator bracket...

How to remove spark plugs from 1966 Plymouth Valiant

There is no room for the socket in the plug well with the big plugs. Be sure to pull the wells out and make sure they have not been damaged by the last ape who put the plugs in.

How to remove spark plugs from 1966 Plymouth Valiant

What exactly is the problem? You got the right spark plug socket? You might try removing the rubber out of the socket, it could be keeping you from reaching deep enough.

Will the '68 Dart 225 run again?

I think you should have taken the valve advice. Don't be in such a hurry to get it started, make sure everything is in good shape first. Buy a book and learn all you can on how it all works. THEN mess it up! ;-)

It was the fuel pump the whole time

Well heck! I got the same symptoms in my valiant, for $18 it's worth a shot. I've tried tuning it til I'm blue in the face and sitting with my head under the hood it runs great. Hit the road though and it fails miserably in the performance department.

    Identifying my engine

measuring hoses is a good visual but that number is the best way to tell what engine you have. 225's will have the numbers 225 where the 170 is in your number. (added: the B indicates a date correct engine for your car here http://www.stockmopar.com/mopar-engine-casting-numbers.html )
