All of this makes sense. I know its gonna be a lot of work and suck. But i ll sacrifice my time if its worth the labor and saves me money for other parts. The console is for a 72 demon. They make repops but they're 500. The pits in mine arent everywhere ....just about a 4 inch strip in the one...

i got a price to repair the pits in my center console and i don t want to spend that much. i would like to try to solder the pits myself and then have it re plated. anybody ever do this ???i ve looked on youtube and haven t found much. any help appreciated

i forgot to mention it was super cheap. they do a lot of plating for trophies and medals and awards and such.

cudaboy....i went that way once,but i wasn t happy with it. the paint looked good, but scuffed and scratched too easy. i clear coated it and it looked like charcoal paint then. i m sure there s a way to do it, but i d go the plating route.

if you wanna remove it.... its not gonna be very easy, but....there are nuts under the dash that hold it on. can t remember exactly how many, but you should be able to see most of them. they are all along the edge of where the pad mounts to the dash frame. i believe there are a couple of tricky...

check out lord-fusor. they make all kinds of glues and sealers for automotive finishes. i ve used it on grilles and stuff before and it works great. strong stuff.

check your phone book out to see if there is any kind of trophy shop around u. call them and see where they get their trophies plated. i ve got a place that did my 71 dash right up town. wasn t very expensive at all and it s the same vaccuum plating deal that the resto companies use.
