    Whats everyone running for gears?

Busted a toof off my 4.30's, so now I'm running 3.91's. Loved the 4.30's even on backroad highways. Trying to roll down the interstate was rough though. Of course, I had 28" tires on at the time, which helps. And no converter slip to deal with.

    Do I need a snubber on a 8 3/4 rear end?

I only know about MY car, which is a four speed with DOT radial slicks. This is with 002/003 springs and Mancini shocks. I welded a heavy pad onto the floor where the snubber is. The snubber is Mancini's set about 1" from the pad. When the slicks are on a sticky surface, the snubber makes a...

    Which would be more fun, a 904 w/a 3000 stall or a 5 speed?

I voted five speed, but I am kinda biased.

    How low are 355 gears

3.55 would be my choice with a 225-70 tire or equivalent. It's a compromise - there is no right answer.

    bent rearend housing?

Mine in my Duster is bent. The alignment shop told me I had 1/2" of toe in - on the rear tires! Since then, I had the axles out and yes, it really is pretty bad. So, yeah, it's entirely possible. A different axle housing is in the works for me. Narrower and back braced too.

    Inner seal for green bearings

It's cool, I'm just messin with ya. I checked into the rear brake hose deal, and the '67 would have used a tee that is NOT part of the hose. '72 and later brake hoses had the tee as a part of the hose. From inlinetube.com: I am not very familiar with the 7-1/4, other than the one...

    Inner seal for green bearings

Dang, dude, get a factory service manual! :) The rear brake hose clips onto a bracket on the body. That's the end attached to the long rigid brake line that runs to the front of the car. The other end of the brake hose is a brass block. The brass block is a tee that sends brake fluid to the...

    Whats everyone running for gears?

4.30 currently, although I will eventually have a 3.91 for everyday, and a 4.30 for the strip.

Who do you like for rear axle work?

Thinking toward winter, which is not far off, I want to work on my rear end. (??) When I took my car for alignment, they told I have 1/2" toe-in in the rear. It's an A-body 8-3/4, so I plan to leave it alone and use an old B body rear housing. I want to get the rear narrowed for use with my...

Dana or 8 3/4?!? Need opinions

Well, if an 8-3/4 is going to cost you that kind of money, then forget about it. Sheesh.

Dana or 8 3/4?!? Need opinions

I can't see a Dana fitting with a stock gas tank. I run a 742 case behind my 340 4 speed with Hoosier DOT slicks. I have some old Summers Brothers axles in it and run the 7290 u-joints. I must have made about 20 passes at the drag strip. So far, no problems. The 340 dyno'ed at 458HP. My...
