    Aluminum heads...

You are correct, no CEL. Exhaust is free flowing. Intercooler is in front of the radiator, looked at it the best I could, don't see any obstructions. While back a piece of a tarp got sucked up in front of the Intercooler. Truck still ran at its normal temperature so I don't know if some bent...

    Aluminum heads...

Years ago was told by a radiator shop that over the course of many miles of coolant flowing through aluminum that the aluminum will erode, the results being a plugged radiator. Any truth? Reason I ask...my Duramax has developed a small cooling problem. Has a digital temperature gauge. Up to...

    Coolant Concerns

Lack of maintenance is what is going on. Have never seen a vehicle that has had the brown gunk circulating...it always rises to the top...suspect that the coolant is more dense than the sludge. Don't be surprised if a freeze out plug or two fails soon...

    Hose life....

I bought the truck when it had 95k on it. Bought a warranty. Had it about a month and the heater core went. Took it to the dealer for the repair. Just so happens, that dealer sold and maintained it for the original owner. Service manager told me that the truck had never had the coolant changed...

    Hose life....

Seen this on a Duramax forum, would like a "second opinion". Went something to the effect of because todays coolant doesn't contain silicates (?) As long as the coolant is changed at recommended intervals hose life is indefinite. Any truth to it? Replaced all the hoses on my Duramax 8 years ago...

    Coolant filter

Do a net search for Tefba. "Smart Phone" won't allow me to cut & paste. This thing goes in the upper hose. If it can be positioned right no coolant draining is necessary. Heads up, it ain't "cheap", both in the $$ department or quality

    "Radiator Saver"

I bought one of these.... http://www.mako.com.au/ when we bought the Fairlane years ago. I wanted to be able to remove the filter for cleaning without having too pull the hose. Previous owner ran straight water in it for a while so the block is rusted badly. Pretty much pulled it out and...

    CFM Ratings

I agree with the ratings aint worth a crap. Can say I have had nothing but grat success with Spal fans. Had a 16" inch one mounted in front of the a/c condenser to help with the a/c when I got rid of the r-12. Got curious one day and took off the factory belt driven fan and went for a...

what to do for radiator hose

Something similar to THIS and a couple of rubber elbows. If you need it with 2 different sizes just take this to a muffler shop and have them "swedge" or what ever the hell it is called to the right size.
