I have heard tell, that what you want is "dynamat", then a layer of closed cell foam about 1/8" as a decoupler and then mass loaded vinyl (MLV) over that.

The carpet kit I bought years ago was like that also. I just cut and glued a couple of pieces of black carpet on either side, can't hardly tell it's there. It would be nice if they fit out of the box though.

Well it's 3/8" coarse thread, overall length is about 1 3/4", the shoulder at the top is about 5/8" in diameter, the threads part are only about 7/8" long and the shoulder part is about 5/8" long and it takes a 3/4" socket.
