    360 harmonic balancers

    Not that you already didn't get your answer but yes they are interchangeable. had a 72 360. Rubber in balancer was bad. Replaced it with one of the later style balancers no problems at all.

    Best piston for street/strip 340?

    Yeah. I believe the 2316s are around 735 grams, can get a hyper piston closer to 475-500 grams. If added with lighter rods the lighter spinning mass is what some people want. I have never had any problems with the heavy slugs and I pound the crap out of my poor little engines.

    KB probably most bank for the buck. I usually run the TRW/Speed Pro 2316s. Just a forged replacement piston for the earlier 340s. They are durable as hell, but VERY heavy. Im a creature of habit. Have built over 20 340s with them and never had any problems.

    BINGO..... Thank you..... I have run lots of high compression small blocks on the street. NO problems at all. People don't understand static compression don't mean much. It is the dynamic compression you need to worry about.

    I am running a 11.2:1 340 in my Duster. Runs just fine on 93. Has a solid roller cam with a lot of duration. Cylinder pressure is only 160psi.

    Got a Voodoo 30200741 solid flat tappit in my 9.8:1 aluminum headed 416 .546/.566 243/251 with howards direct lube lifters. Engine made over 525 HP w 540 TQ on the dyno. Mike @ MRL did my heads.

    I usually run a little cooler plug like RN9YC. Have for a long time. Was originally to prevent pre ignition in the 10.5-11:1 small blocks at the strip probably no need to run them in a 9.5:1 engine, but I bought a surplus of them so Im using them. They do foul easy.

    Not to mention if your valve stems are not perfectly level you can adjust every cylinder individually with the same exact amount of pre loal. I run them on my 340s. Have for years.

    Have it sonic checked. If it checks out fine, bore build and enjoy. I know guys running the snot out of 340s .040, .060, and .070 over. As long as cylinder walls have enough meat you will be fine. Every block is different.

    TDC on the compression stroke both dots should be @ 12:00. Remember that when you drop your dizzy in. see lots of guys go dot to dot and dizzy is 180* off.     I cant see new one that well. Is it clam shelled? Hollowed out 3/4 of the way around. Almost don't look it. May be wrong balancer for neutral balanced engine. And no it will be the same front seal. Looks like old one was sleeved.

    Old one is an earlier 360 balancer. New one looks to be a later 360 balancer. Instead of big counter weight they hollowed out the center more. Im not a 360 expert, but i have been told they are interchangeable. Someone more into 360s may chime in.

    I have used both 2* and 4* offset keys with no problems at all. Have a 2* in my 416 w cloyes .250 double roller chain and cloyes tensioner, so quality gears makes no difference at all, it is either on or it is off. I personally rather have it a couple * advanced over retarded
