I am about to purchase this 1988 Dakota 4x4. I have never seen a Dakota with this style of rear fenders. I have yet to see the truck in person as it is a 2hr drive. Planning on a road trip this Friday to check it out. The guy says the fenders are stock and they look stock in the photos but I can not find any info online. Can anyone tell me anything about this?

Much appreciated.

I have never heard of one myself, but dodge has done some pretty different undocumented things before, such as the mirada convertable, which was actually made at a private company in florida, sort of like hurst

Kinda looks like a Ford Ranger step side, the body lines on the flare/tub at the rocker very much are reminiscent of a late 80's-early 90's Ford.

I'm not saying it isn't an original or original dealer add on, I'm just saying I don't recall this ever on a Dakota nor does it appear to look like an assembly line piece.

I meant F150 step side/flare side..........

Though it would appear to be only 1/2 a tub.

Check out www.dakota-durango.com and ask/see what they can tell you in their forum.... Looks like a dealer/custom add-on to me. I know they did a few stepside Dakotas back then, but I do not recall a sort of dually look bed....

It does look more like a dually than flareside......this truck really has my interest sparked. I am always looking for the unusual looking vehicles. I think I am going to buy it whether its factory/dealer or homemade. It will make an interesting project.

I tried that place when I first got my quad cab Dak. Most people there seem to be the biggest bunch of self rightous douche bags I have ever met. They seem to like to gang up on the new guy and belittle them, and yes, I was vitum as well.

I even got PM's stating, "Dont F%&# with the boys"

I figure that asking a simple question would be OK, but all I got was bullshit. Theres a couple of good fella there, not many.

Good luck, I just went back to get the quote of that message I spoke about, here it is;

fucktard...don't mess with the regulars....

Looking at all the other JC Whitney add-ons on that truck I'd have to say "Heck No!!" :thumrigh:

Maybe they like me for my Shelby....lol I don't go there often, but when I do, they seem pretty tame.

Goood, perhaps, they got rid of a few stars.

My personal fav A-hole is Rebel13 for sending me about 5 or 6 homo pornographic pictures. All within my first few posts. Nice guy huh? Why he is still there, IDK?!

It looks like a Dakota Express...
The rear fenders are fiberglass, with a steel bed area.

Does it have a dual tube bumper?

The beds are hard to find...

sadly the friend who was going to drive me to go see it and haul it back flaked out on me at the last min....really pisses me off......I want this truck so bad!

I've actually seen those before. Definitely Not Stock. Many years ago, there was a company that made Dully conversion kits for the first generation Dakotas. Long since discontinued, I'm not even sure the company is even still in business.
