we have a 360 with sealed power hypertech pistons and stock rods. Have a set of forged icons we would like to use.We would also like to use some scat I beam rods. The pistons are 90 grams lighter and the rods are about 150 grams lighter. My question would be about balancing the cheapest way possible. We have the b&m flex plate and external balancer. Dont wont to have to spend a ton of money on mallary metal.

the cheapest is to balance it as an externally balanced engine...weight will be removed from the crank.

the best is to internally balance it...even with the lighter rods and pistons...they will need to add mallory metal to the crank....which is expensive..

you would be paying for the basic balancing plus the mallory metal...

So you are saying there are no holes in the counter weights?

You should be able to get it balanced without mallory.

have the machine shop spin it without the damper and flexplate first , and then if it needs mallory , have them use your external damper and flexplate . Simple .
