Aloha! I got a sure grip for the 7.25 and I'm having the mechanic put it in. (Yes I know...why waste your time and money. Well I want to keep the 66 barracuda as original looking as possible)

my question is... the mechanic is saying the adjusters are not there...I mean in the open rear end. I've been driving the barracuda for almost 2 years and if there was something missing in the rear...you'd think I would have known!!!!

So is it possible the adjuster were replaced with spacers or shims?

I'll stop by the shop tonight and take pictures to verify and post.

From a little research it appears the 7.25 and the 8.25 adjuster are the same so I can order them from Randy's Ring and pinion.

Aloha and Mahalo

Looks like NO ADJUSTERS were ever in there. The caps only have two bolt holes. Nothing for the lock to lock onto for the adjuster. Now it doesn't look like the sure-grip will fit.

Ugh
Aloha Mike

You can order new ones from the parts store that are included in the hardware kits for rebuilding the brakes, but they will not be identical to the stock ones, but will work.

For original ones, you would have to buy used ones and clean them up.

Are you running 9 or 10 inch brakes?

Mahalo but it's the adjuster for the axle/ 3rd member.

Aloha mike

So the top is the cap for the adjuster...you can see it only has two bolts. no screw for the lock, for the adjuster.

bottom is the spacers that were behind the caps. while trying to put the sure grip in the spacer snap. seems it was super snug. DANG!!!

anyone ever seen this? crazy 7.25. no clips for the axles and no adjusters!!!!

Aloha Mike

The 7.25 I am removing from my '75 Scamp did not have adjusters at the axle flange, but did have them on the caps for the differential.

You are welcome to parts from mine, I plan to part this out CHEAP.

raodrunnerh~mahalo for the offer...I may have to take you up on it.

aloha
