A518 A500 Questions -Console Shift-67 Barracuda-Challenges?

I have both in usable condition.

Before I pull them out I have a couple Q's....
Are the OD units about the same size and are Trans mounts in same place if I ever change out trans?

A friend told me there is trouble with the conventional Console Shift.
What have you guys done regarding the bracket that bolts through a 904 or 727 holding the
Shifter Bell crank pivot?

OD units are the same for either unit. Dimensionally, I am pretty sure total length is the same too. I can't see being able to use a console shift setup, as the whole assembly is much wider at the point where the bracket would attach.

The A518 and the A500 OD units do not have the two hole boss cast in for the shifter linkage like the 727. These A518-A500 are also rounder and usually require floor mods and Xmember mods. Check this link and the pictures....

I guess the thing to do is put a cable shifter in the console

Google search the A518 swap, the console set up has been modified to work....not sure how well it works but I am sure something can be created. A cable to me is loose and not what you will like in the end......worth a Google around...this is an old swap idea so lots out there I am sure.

My stock shifter works great , check pics in my build. Any other questions I can help with just ask.
